Tomato plants and pushing spring

It’s still a few weeks too early to set out the tomatoes. But they were just sitting there while I was at HD doing some errands. So home they came.

These are ‘Better Big Boys’ and some green peppers.

Night time temperatures need to be above 50′ before you can plant tomatoes. Tomatoes are very cold sensitive. Normally that is mid-March down here. So I have these guys still in their containers and I bring them in on nights when it is going below 50′.

When you plant the tomatoes put them so the bottom inch or so of stem is in the dirt. They are vines and will send roots out of the stem that is under the dirt.
