Thanks for the link! Seems like plenty of people garden here (judging by how busy my nursery is on the weekends), but none of them blog about it. Pretty sure CyberToad doesn’t post anymore, nor does Garden Spot. I’ve been the only game in town for a long time. CyberToad and I did have a blog on the Chronicle site, but she got pulled away by other priorities and I just didn’t like blogging on a site I didn’t control, so that’s not being updated anymore (http://blogs.chron.com/gardenspace)

Anyway, enjoy Texas gardening! I’m sure it’s a far cry from whatever Yankee locale you left. :)

Thanks. I am having fun, so many cool things I can grow down here that I couldn’t back in south eastern Mass.

Which nursery is yours? I’m still scouting out local nurseries.

Well, I live in central Houston near Memorial Park, so I think we might actually be in different growing zones. :) My favorite is Buchanan’s Native Plants, which is in the Heights. A bit of a hike for you and probably not worth it. But my favorite nursery up north is The Arbor Gate in Tomball (http://www.arborgate.com/). Still a hike for you but it’s a HUGE place with tons of stuff and lots of beautiful pottery and lawn ornaments (mostly of the non-tacky variety). Also, if you’re into roses at all, take a road trip to Brenham and visit the Antique Rose Emporium (http://www.antiqueroseemporium.com/). They have an incredible selection of roses.

It is amazing that Houston has several different planting zones.

I did find the Arbor Gate. Totally cool nursery. I’m hoping to get a chance to take some classes there as time allows.

I haven’t been to Buchanan’s yet, I hear there are 4 really cool nurseries in the Heights, Buchanan’s was one of the 4 recommended to me. I’m hoping to get down and visit them all in the near future.

I’d seen the Rose Emporium online but hadn’t heard anything about it. I’m glad to hear you recommend it. I’ll try to visit that one as well later in the summer.

Any excuse to go scope out new nurseries is a good one.

Thanks for linking us up! We’re not experts, and fumbe around an awful lot, but perhaps that’s the benefit - we can serve as a warning to others, LOL!

    That’s what we’re all doing. ;D
