Woodpecker tree holes

February 6th, 2007

It would seem one of the local woodpeckers found some interesting food in the pine tree. I’ve several rings of holes. ** update - turns out these holes are from the Red cockaded woodpecker a local endangered species. They put the holes in the tree so the sap leaks out and prevents predators from climbing the tree and getting to their nests.
